The permeate water is then disinfected and pumped into the distribution system. The membrane concentrate (reject) water is discharged into the Albemarle Sound. 8. Describe the wastewater and the treatment process(es) for wastewater generated by the facility: There is no treatment process for the concentrate flow. The pressure from the reverse osmosis high pressure pump provides enough pressure to force the concentrate stream to its discharge location in the Albemarle Sound. 9.
