No: 950121 42608.1.JA4 Federal (USACE) Permit Required? County: Wayne Document: PCE Funding: ❑ State ❑ Yes ❑ No Permit Type: ® Federal Project Description: Replace structure 950121 in Wayne County on SR 1714 over West Bear Creek. This project is part of the ARRA II group, and has an APE of 40 ft alongside the structure to each side and 200 ft for each approach. Impacts are expected to be limited and any required detour would be offsite. SUMMARY OF CULTURAL RESOURCES REVIEW Brief description of review activities, results of review, and conclusions: For this ARRA II screening, a limited APE is proposed. A map inspection at OSA showed no previously recorded sites. Information obtained from aerial and street level photography, and GIS data regarding slope, soils and hydrology, further suggested the low environment immediately surrounding the bridge is unlikely to have archaeological deposits, especially within the limited APE. Brief Explanation of why the available information provides a reliable basis for reasonably predicting that there are no unidentified historic properties in the APE: The undertaking involves replacing a bridge with limited changes to the existing transportation feature. Construction of the existing bridge facility has already disturbed a large portion of the APE, compromising its archaeological integrity. Combined, these factors suggest that undocumented, significant archaeological sites are not located within the APE.
