PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Project is located on the east side of Shallotte River downstream of Shallotte. The applicants property is located in a new subdivision and consists of 6/10 of an acre lot on a high bluff overlooking the Shallotte River. There is a broad expanse of Spartina alterniflora marsh (approximately 450' wide). Two marginally navigable creeks meander thru this marsh border. The applicant proposes to construct a fixed pier with platform and floating dock from his high ground property to the Shallotte River. The dimensions of the pier are 3' wide by 428' long then terminates in a platform measuring 12' x 20'. On the waterward side of the platform the applicant proposes to install an 8' x 10' floating dock connected to the platform by means of bridged steps. During the field meeting with the applicant the necessity of providing for navigation in the creeks was discussed. The applicant indicated that adequate light and width of span would be provided so as not to interfere with traditional navigation in the creeks. 10. ANTICIPATED IMPACTS: Provided that the applicant constructs the pier as proposed no adverse impacts are anticipated.
