FORM: SSGP 02-2017 Page 1 of 3
3. Attach a photograph of the shoreline/ buffer proposed to be stabilized. (Include a scale of

island located within the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) proiect boundary for
Lake Norman. The island is referred to as Heron Island (N-18), and is located approximateiv
1,500 feet west of 20433 Staghorn Court in Cornelius (see Attachment 1-b). Island N-18 is

of the island, which is an active heron rookery (i.e., approximately 40 nests in 2018). The
stabilization will protect this important natural resource site from further degradation of the
shoreline and loss of the island. The proposed work will stabilize three sections of the main
channel -facing shoreline (western shoreline) with current eroded bank heights of 2 feet to 5
feet. Stabilization will be completed with matting and riprap. The three sections proposed for
stabilization total 310 linear feet of shoreline. Any down/damaged trees currently located at
the shoreline will be placed on or adiacent to the stabilized shoreline after work is completed.
7. Will work be conducted from land? ❑ From water?
8. Total amount of impacts below the normal pool lake level/ Normal Water Level
Permanent impacts (including all excavation, backfill, rip rap, retaining walls, etc.) in square feet:

FORM: SSGP 02-2017 Page 2 of 5
9. Total amount of impacts above the normal pool lake level / Normal Water Level and 50 feet
land -ward
Permanent impacts (including back fill, excavation, rip rap, retaining walls, etc.) in square feet:
620 square feet
Temporary impacts (temporary clearing, construction corridor) in square feet:
10. Please describe the vegetation above the normal pool lake level/ Normal Water Level and 50
feet landward to be impacted (number of trees, for instance): Vegetation impacts will
be limited to what is necessary to stabilize the shoreline. Any vegetation required to be
removed will be placed on/around the stabilized shoreline at the completion of the project.
