Inspection Summary:
Today's visit was the result of a complaint alleging pollution in the stream due to cattle waste. The stream, UT (unnamed tributary)
to Little Bugaboo Creek (Yadkin Pee Dee river basin), flows through the three properties that were sampled. The UT is the
property line between McGinnis and Sebastian properties. Mr. McGinnis grazes cattle on land that he owns (parcel #0605643) and
that he leases from William Sebastian (#0606658) and Jennifer Sebastian Schwarz (#0606656).
3. There is 2,640 linear feet of impact in the creek due to excessive cattle activity in and around the UT to Little Bugaboo Creek.
Two locations in UT shared by McGinnis and Sebastians were sampled: fecal coliform was >12,000 col/100 mL at both locations
with turbidity of 37.0 NTU and 380.0 NTU. Dissolved oxygen levels were 3.84 mg/L and 3.49 mg/L.
An additional location was sampled on a neighboring third property (downstream of McGinnis and Sebastian properties) and the
fecal coliform was still >12,000 col/100 mL while dissolved oxygen was 3.64 mg/L. Turbidity was 34 NTU.
