Rip rap at pond surrounding pipe outlet may be warranted for long term stability of the new pipe. Riparian Buffers: Equipment used and work performed will be from the existing transportation facility. Foot traffic access for installation of temporary dewatering measures will be limited just upstream and downstream of the pipe replacement to maintain a dry work area. No trees will be cut and no grading within riparian areas is proposed. Therefore, no Neuse Buffer impacts are proposed. Temporary impacts: Note this site will require an atypical dewatering plan. Sandbags will be placed at the inlet of the system to dry the work site by sending clean water across the road into the first pond. Sandbags will be added in a semi -circle at the outlet of the pipe replacement to isolate the work area. An additional clean water pump will be used to draw down the water elevation within the second pond to pull water off the pipe replacement until complete. A mud pump will be used if necessary to treat any trapped dirty water. Impervious dike materials will be removed once the work is complete. Permanent impacts: Although using the same length pipe, +/-5ft of rip rap may be necessary at the pipe outlet by the pond to make sure the new pipe is stable in the inundated located and that backfill is contained and not allowed to wash into the pond. Wetland Information: Although this crossing is mapped as having hydric soils (Wo- Wehadkee and Bibb soils), there are no wetlands within the construction footprint. Cultural Resources: Review of the SHPO GIS mapping reveals no cultural resources, no historic structures nor properties at this crossing.
