General Information City of Southport Wastewater Collection System David H, Fox (ORC -910- 233-4565) (Tom Stanley -910-233-4895 Back Up ORC) Permit No. WQCS00137 Facility Located at 1010 North Howe ST. • 2. Description of Process The City Collection system consists of approximately 18.25 miles of gravity sewer, approximately 2.0 miles of pressure sewer, approximately 5.85 miles of force main, 35 pump stations and all associated piping and valves and apparatus required to make a complete and operational wastewater collection system to serve the City Of Southport. 3. System Improvements 1. City replaced Filter Media at Central lift station Odor Control Unit 2. City replaced Rotor Assembly Element Moore Street Lift station 3. City purchased Two Back up Rotor Elements for backup of other Gorman Rupp Stations. 4. City purchased Two backup WGL-20 Pumps for Prizes Creek Lift station 5. City purchased Two new pumps for Turtle wood Moore lift station 6. City replaced ASCO 300 series main controller at Bay Street Lift Station. 7. City had contractor replace manhole on East West Street. 8. City had Contractor do an Emergency replacement of Transfer Switch at Public Works GEN SET. 9. City had Contractor Replace GEN SET Transfer Switch at Public Works. 10. The City signed a contract with McAdams & Associates to provide Consultant services in seeking a grant thru the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) for a Facilities Assessment of the Wastewater system and construction of a new Wastewater Treatment Plant. Which the City was awarded a grant for $19,800,000.00 11. The City of Southport Board Voted to build a Waste Treatment plant for City wastewater flows, with grant funding from NCDEQ. 12. City of Southport awarded New plant design to Hazen & Sawyer. 13. City replaced a Square D soft starter at Central Lift Station. 14. City repaired broken sewer main at 614 W. West Street. 15. City had contractor replace manhole at 808 Lenard Street 16. City had contractor replace section of sewer main at 406 N. Howe Street 17. City replaced fencing at Bay Street lift station 18. City had contractor replace transfer switch at Moore Street lift station 19. City had contractor replace section of sewer main at 416 Leonard Street 20. City had contractor replace section of sewer main at 138 Stuart Street 21. City had contractor replace sections of sewer main at 308 East Nash Street 22. City had contractor replace SLS Automatic Transfer switch at Deep Point Lift Station. 23. City replaced 58 HP. Submersible Pump at Central lift station 24. City replaced pump controller at Central lift station 25. City replaced 15 HP. Motor at Park AVE. lift station 26. City had contractor install an insertion valve at Moore street lift station 27. City had contractor replace discharge pipes at Moore Street lift station 28. City had contractor replace 400 ft of 8-inch sewer main on Brown Street 29. City had contractor replace ASCO 300 Series Automatic Transfer switch at River Drive lift station. 30. During the Hurricane City lost pump # 2 at Central lift station, replaced with new Sulzer/ABS pump. 31. City installed an 80 KW Generator at Public Works for server and Scada Controls. 32. City had contractor install floats at Deep PT. lift station 33. City ran bypass pumps for three weeks on Howe Street during sewer main repairs along Howe Street. 34. . System performance for Fiscal year July 2018-July 2019 As noted earlier, the City also operates 35 sewer lift stations in our system. Spare parts and pumps are in inventory for their maintance needs. In the past year their performance was outstanding, and only a few minor repairs were needed. 1. The City was awarded a grant this year for either building our own Waste Treatment or going with Brunswick County in up grading their plant to take City Wastewater flow. The City Board voted to build their own plant to treat City wastewater. 2. The City went Thru its North Carolina Division of Water Resources inspection on 3/15/2018 and the findings were: There were no significant issues or findings noted during the Inspections. 3. City of Southport had a SOS on 7/30/2018 that resulted in 80,000 gal. of wastewater that reached Dutchman Creek, report was sent to DWQ. 4. City of Southport had a SOS on 8/3/2018 that resulted in 60,182 gal. of wastewater that reached Dutchman Creek, report was sent to DWQ. 5. City of Southport had a SOS during hurricane on 9/18/2018 that resulted in 300,560 gal. of wastewater reached Cottage Creek, report was sent to DWQ. 6. City of Southport had a SOS during hurricane on10/1/2018 that resulted in 700 gal. of wastewater reached Cottage Creek, report was sent to DWQ. Certification: I certify under penalty of law that this report is complete and accurate to the best of my knowledge. I further certify that this report has been made available to the users or customers of the named system and that those users have been notified of its availability.
