The North Carolina Division of Water Resources conducted an inspection of the Genesis Condos WWTF
on 6/26/2019. This inspection was conducted to verify that the facility is operating in compliance with
the conditions and limitations specified in Non -discharge Permit No. WQ0006863. The findings and
comments noted during this inspection are provided in the enclosed copy of the inspection report
entitled "Compliance Inspection Report". There were no significant issues or findings noted during the
inspection and therefore, a response to this inspection report is not required.

Inspection Summary:
A routine compliance inspection of Genesis WWTF was conducted on June 26, 2019. The purpose of the evaluation was to
verify that the facility is operating in compliance and limitations specified in Permit W00006863. Lee Buck, ORC, Don
O'Mara, Karrie O'Mara and the Permittee, David Godwin, were present during the inspection.
The Genesis Condominium complex received extensive damage during Hurricane Florence. Currently there are 3 condos
being occupied by permanent residents at the complex during the repair work. Staff indicated that approximately one batch
a day of wastewater is being treated through the sequencing batch reactor (SBR) system. Under normal conditions, two
trains of the SBR are operational during the summer season and one train in the winter. Solids are removed twice a year by
Barnes Environmental. Existing facilities were approved without tertiary filtration and aeration in the EQ tank, but do appear
to cause any issues.
A file review of the monitoring reports was conducted since the last inspection. Monitoring wells have been compliant except
for some high TDS values which can be typical in a barrier island environment. There have been numerous months where
NDMRs and NDARs have been late or not submitted. WIRO has made contact by phone and email many times as a
reminder to submit. This issue was discussed with Mr.Godwin during the inspection and emphasized that WIRO will begin
issuing violations if this continues.
This permit expired on 5/31/2016 and no renewal application has been received by the Central Office. It was discussed with
Mr. Godwin that operating without a active permit is a violation, and a renewal application needs to be submitted as soon as
possible.
This facility is compliant with non -discharge permit WQ0006863. Please review the comment sections of the inspection
