SUBJECT: Piedmont Natural Gas - Southfork Road Enhancement Project
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Action ID: SAW -2018-00035
On behalf of Piedmont Natural Gas (PNG), Kleinfelder completed a post -construction review of
the Southfork Road Enhancement Project area (project area) located in Union County, North
Carolina on March 25, 2019. A Nationwide Permit #12 (NWP 12) was authorized for use on this
project by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Charlotte Regulatory Field Office on March
6, 2018. The Southfork Road Enhancement Project included the installation of approximately 0.87
miles of 12 -inch natural gas pipeline to support the increased power demands in the area.
Prior to construction, three (3) wetland areas were delineated within the project area. A post -
construction inspection was conducted at these three wetland areas to confirm pre -construction
topographic gradients were restored at these areas. Pedestrian surveys of the review areas were
performed, and photo documentation was collected at each location. Each location showed no
significant difference in topographic gradients compared to undisturbed adjacent areas. A site
map, photo documentation, and the signed "completion of activity" USACE form is attached with
this memorandum.
