Facility Activities and Process:
• SIC Code: 2891— Miscellaneous Chemical Products — Adhesives and Sealants (Blends/Mixes)
• The facility manufactures chemical adhesives and monomers.
• An uncovered AST farm, tote storage area and drum storage area are also located onsite.
• The original permit was issued in 2009. The facility previously had a No Exposure Permit;
however, there were changes at the facility that no longer allowed them to have no exposure.
• A complaint was received by the Division from USEPA regarding an anonymous complaint of an
unreported spill that occurred on 10/15/2012. A dumpster overfilled with water and allowed
residue from waste filters and other materials to spill into an outfall. The spill was cleaned up
and put back into the pretreatment system. The spill was confirmed with a site visit by RRO and
DENR Waste Management on 10/24/2012.
Monitoring Information:
• Two outfalls exist at the facility: Outfall 1 and Outfall 2.
• There is no industrial activity in the area that drains to Outfall 2 (only the parking lot and
shipping loading dock), so only qualitative data is collected.
• The facility provided consistent monitoring data.
• There were no benchmark exceedances between 2009 and 2018.
Surface Water Information:
• Stormwater discharges to Little Buffalo Creek, a class C stream in the Cape Fear River Basin.
• Little Buffalo Creek is considered an impaired waters, experiencing problems with benthos.
Discussions with the Facility:
• Contact was made with the facility over phone and email was made on 4/11/2019 and
monitoring data was seen onsite during the inspection on 4/15/2019.
