General Project Narrative:
The purpose of this project into replace Bridge No. 550223 located on SR 1134 (Stamey Mtn. Road) over South Fork of Skeenah River. The proposed bridge will be a 45'
Cored Slab Bridge and will be constructed on the existing alignment The proposed structure replaces an existing one span at 25'-6" timber floor on I -beams with timber caps,
post and sills on concrete footings. No deck drains will be needed for the proposed structure. The existing roadway consists of a 18' paved roadway with 4' grass shoulders.
The roadway improvements consist of 2-10' lanes with 3' grass shoulders. Trafficwill be redirected along an off -site detour during the construction of the project. A short
portion of an unnamed tributary to South Fork of Skeenah River will need to be relocated adjacent to the proposed roadway fill on the west side of the project. The relocated
channel will have a 2' base. The side slopes will be lined with Class B rip rap and no rip rap is to be placed in the stream bed. Channel depth, channel slope and side slopes
Will match existing features. A V berm will be installed between the embankment and the proposed channel alignment to minimize risk to the embankment Existing drainage
patterns are being maintained and runoff is being discharged as far from stream as practicable.
