Lauren and Mike,
Please see the email below from PWC showing that they add zinc orthophosphate for corrosion control in the water
supply system.
We feel that this contributes to our measured zinc levels in the outfalls. As discussed we discharge non -contact cooling
water under an NPDES permit so this discharge is present during our storm water sampling.
We understand based on review of the draft permit that zinc limits have increased slightly however we believe some
allowance would be necessary to account for the zinc contribution of the raw water.
We would appreciate consideration of this request in conjunction with the permit renewal or compliance evaluation
based on sampling results that might be above the permit limits.
Thanks for your consideration.

Since around 1993, PWC has added zinc orthophosphate Zn3(PO4)2 to our finished water for corrosion control, in order
to comply with the USEPA's Lead and Copper Rule. We average around 0.25 mg/L of zinc in the distribution system.

Ti m,
We are working on renewing our storm water permit. We also have an NPDES permit to discharge non -contact cooling
water. I was recently provided some information that indicates PWC might utilize a zinc based corrosion inhibitor in the
water systems. Can you confirm this is the case? We are scheduled to have some discussions with the state next week
and do not have time to conduct sampling on the incoming water before that meeting.
