Built in 1966, Bridge No. 401 has not been evaluated for eligibility for listing to the National Register of Historic Places (NRP) according to the North Carolina Historic Bridge Inventory Conducted to 2005. However, it appears to be a standard bridge design with no remarkable architectural or engineering significance.
