Replacement (1) corrugated metal pipe with (2) 48" W x 75' L welded steel pipes utilizing
trenchless installation and install 35 linear feet of riprap for bank stabilization. Culvert
project will impact Turtle Pond Creek on Hwy. 106, Macon County North Carolina.
B. Description of Need and Purpose:
The project purpose is to replace a deteriorating and/or obsolete culvert on a paved
secondary road.

• NWP 3 & NWP 13 (Non -Notification).
• Project will comply with the standard 2017 NWP 3/2017 GC 4132
Special Conditions:
1. The NCDOT shall ensure that all in -stream work is conducted in the dry. A stream diversion device will be
utilized.
2. The NCDOT shall ensure that all culvert replacement work that entails any soil disturbance in a specific area
(e.g., streambank disturbance, culvert extraction, bedding, placement of new culvert, bank/stream disturbance,
etc.) is completed in one workday.
3. The NCDOT shall ensure that any disturbed streambanks or other disturbed areas will be seeded and
stabilized with anchored coir matting (700/gm/yd.) immediately following culvert installation. This seeding and
stabilization must occur by the end of the workday on which an area is disturbed.
4. The NCDOT shall ensure welded steel pipe will not exceed 75 linear feet and placement of rip -rap not exceed
35 linear feet.
