Subject: Compliance Evaluation Inspection
Raleigh Collection System
WWCS Permit WQCS00002
Wake County
Dear Mr. Massengill:
On June 12, 2019, Vanessa Manuel and Cheng Zhang from the Raleigh Regional Office conducted an
inspection of the city's wastewater collection system to evaluate compliance with the operation and
maintenance of the subject wastewater collection system permit. The cooperation and assistance of Matt
Vessie, Carlos Perez, and many other members of your staff during the inspection were greatly
appreciated.
During the inspection, the city staff indicated the wastewater collection system consists of approximately
2,46I miles of gravity sewer, approximately 139 miles of force main, 517 simplex pump stations that
serve a single building, 4 simplex pump stations that serve more than one building, I07 duplex pump
stations, 10 pump stations with three or more pumps and approximately 14,581 high priority sewer lines.
The subject permit is effective from June 6, 2017 until January 31, 2024, and is subject to specific
conditions and limitations. The overall conditions of the records reviewed and the pump stations and high
priority lines inspected were compliant with the WWCS permit. We appreciate the City's efforts to
maintain a compliant sewer collection system program. Please refer to the attached inspection report for
full inspection details.
If you have questions or comments about this inspection or the requirements to take corrective action if
applicable, please contact Vanessa Manuel at 919-7914255.
Sincerely,
