Good afternoon Resource Agency Representatives,

On behalf of Michael Bass, the NCDOT Division Design Construct Project Manager, I am writing to let you know that
Division 3 has started the project development, environmental and engineering studies for STIP Project No. W-5703H for
proposed safety improvements at the intersection of US 17 (Ocean Highway) and SR 1303 (Hickman Road NW) in
Brunswick County.

We would appreciate any comments and information you might have that would be helpful in identifying and evaluating
important issues and resources in the project study area that should be considered during the project development
process to evaluate potential environmental impacts of this project. Your comments and information will be used in the
preparation of a federally-funded Type I Categorical Exclusion (CE) in accordance with the National Environmental Policy
Act. For your reference, attached are the Project Data Sheets, a Vicinity Map, a USGS Topographic Map, and an
Environmental Features Map.

Please provide your comments, questions, and input to Michael Bass at [phone] or by e-mail at [e-mail]
by July 18, 2019. Please include STIP Project No. W-5703H in all correspondence and comments.
