Good morning everybody,

For your consideration.

The “Best-Fit Alternative” description is currently written as:

Preliminary Best-Fit Alternative: Widen US 321/US 421 to include four 12-foot travel lanes, the addition of a 30-foot
median and five-foot paved shoulders to accommodate bicycles. Widening will utilize a best-fit design, that will shift the
widening to either the east or the west, and/or symmetrically and that is consistent with NCDOT design standards and
policy guidelines, as a means of avoiding and/or minimizing impacts to environmental and community features. For the
purposes of this meeting a preliminary best-fit alignment was developed to facilitate discussions of the concept.

Recommend slightly modifying to read:

Best-Fit Alternative: Widen US 321/US 421 to include four 12-foot travel lanes, the addition of a 30-foot median and
five-foot paved shoulders to accommodate bicycles. Widening will utilize a best-fit design, that will shift the widening to

coordination with resource/permitting agencies, the preliminary best-fit alignment will be adjusted in advance of
selecting the LEDPA/Preferred Alternative (Concurrence Point 3).)

At our Merger Meeting on May 16 for R-2615 it was requested that the language on the CP2 form be revised and then
passed around for comment. Attached is the revised CP2 form. Please let us know your comments and I will update as
needed until everyone agrees to the language.
