Hey Eric,
I wanted to follow up our phone conversation regarding the pipe modification / extension at Station 35+03 on Sampson
Rd, Watauga County.
I've attached a new pipe data sheet that shows the new impact — 20 additional feet of pipe at Station 35+03. The
additional pipe was needed to get the outlet further away from the new road shoulder so that we can better stabilize
the bank. This issue was a result of the skew that the pipe/stream follows. While we will have 20 additional feet of pipe
impact, the new outlet will now be on bed rock, eliminating the need for the proposed 10 feet of instream rip rap /
dissipater pad. So, we will have a new net impact of 10 feet (20 ft of new pipe —10 ft of instream rip rap = 10 feet of
new instream impact).
I have obtained the necessary mitigation for this new impact, and attached the mitigation letter. I'm more than happy
to get you any additional information or forms. I'll apologize upfront for not knowing exactly what will be needed to
make this change, but let me know if I can provide any clarifying information.
