REGAN Secretary LINDA CULPEPPER Director Luis Gutiemez 3032 Rosebriar Drive Durham, NC 27705 Dear Mr. Gutiemez: NORTH CAROLINA Environmental Quality June 12, 2019 Subject: Compliance Evaluation Inspection Single Family Wastewater Treatment System Permit No. NCG551574 Durham County On May 22, 2019, Ray Milosh from the Raleigh Regional Office visited your single-family residence (SFR) wastewater treatment system to evaluate compliance with the above permit to discharge wastewater. The checked boxes below show what conditions were noted at your facility: ® Other: The system is buried except for the chlorinator, dechlorinator and the outfall. There were no signs of failure on the surface at the septic tank or sand filter. There were tablets in the chlorinator, but they had swollen and gotten stuck. The tablets below had dissolved away so the wastewater effluent was not being chlorinated or dechlorinated. The tablets were pushed to the bottom by the inspector. To prevent this happening, add fewer tablets at a time. There were also chlorine tablets in the dechlorinator. Please add dechlorinator tablets to the dechlorinator instead of chlorine tablets. Local sources of these tablets are listed on the second page of the documents left at your house. The system was not discharging effluent at the time of the inspection. The owner did not respond to the paperwork left at the residence requesting that inspector be contacted to answer questions. If you have questions or comments about this inspection or the requirements to take corrective action, please contact Ray Milosh or me at 919-791 -4200.
