The East Fork Deep River is adjacent to the site to the south. The surrounding area is a mix of commercial and industrial facilities. The site is part of a partially developed industrial subdivision. The eAsting 12" waterline and a sanitary sewer line lie to the south. A smaller domestic waterline is located in the street and a another sewer line is located on the eastern portion of the property. 3b. Proposed Activity Provide a detailed description of the proposed activity including its purpose and include the type of equipment to be used: The City of Greensboro plans to construct a water booster station at 5 Sharps Airpark Ct in order to better regulate pressure in the City water system. The building will not impact the stream buffers. However the water system requires connections at two points to the existing 12" waterline located on the adjoining City -owned property to the south. Traditional mechanical construction equipment will be used for the installation of the waterline. A standard 20' easement will be dedicated and maintained over the proposed 12" waterline connections. Impact Justification and Mitigation 1. Avoidance and Minimization 1a. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts in designing the project.* The existing waterline is located within Riparian Protection Area, Zones 1 and 2, so there is no possible alternative to disturbing the stream buffer in order to connect to the existing waterline. However, the connections have been located so there will be no disturbance to Zone 1. Additionally, the domestic water connection serving the proposed restroom will connect to the waterline in Sharps Airpark Ct., rather than connecting within the stream buffer. The sanitary sewer connection also connect to the sewer line locate outside the buffer. 1b. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts through construction techniques. * Erosion control measures, tree removal and land disturbance will be limited to the 20' maintenance corridor that will be permanently maintained by the City of Greensboro.
