Subject: Review of Duke Progress Energy, Weatherspoon Plant's Proposed NPDES Fish Tissue
Monitoring Plan (NC0005363).
Dear Mr. Tyndall:
Thank you for your submission of the proposed fish tissue monitoring plan for this facility.
Based on our review of this document, we offer the following:
1) A downstream collection location must be sited on the Lumber River for trace element analysis
of fish tissues. If you require assistance in selecting a site, please contact this Office.
2) Please attempt to collect a minimum of ten (10) individuals per species. A minimum of six (6)
meets the permit requirements.
3) In future reports for this facility, please attach a copy of DWR's approval letter for DEP
Procedure NR00107.
4) Lastly, please refer to the table below for the most recent fish consumption screening values for
future data comparisons.
