Do not click links or open attachments unless you verify. Send all suspicious email as an attachment to report.spam@nc.gov This is the list I plan on using when selecting trees. I noticed the list also includes shrubs and flower plants. Can I select anything from the list or does it just have to be "trees"? Please provide a signed and dated copy of the application. If the application is not signed by the owner/applicant, please provide an agent authorization letter delegating signature authority. A sample agent authorization letter can be found on the USACE website. [15A NCAC 02H .0502(f)] RESPONSE: Signed application page attached. Let me know if only sending the one page is acceptable. 2. Please clarify that any trees greater than 3 inches in diameter at breast height (DBH) removed from Zone 1 of the Catawba River Buffer will be replaced using at least 2 species of native hardwood trees. RESPONSE: Confirmed. I will replace any tree 3 inches in diameter removed with 2 species of hardwood trees. You previously provided a list of acceptable trees. I will select from the list. I rechecked last night and I'm looking at approximately 6-8 trees. My assumption is I need to plant the trees somewhere within the 30 foot buffer. 3. Please clarify the location and extent of the buffer impacts from the construction of the stairs to Zone 1 and Zone 2 of the Catawba River Buffer. RESPONSE: Plan is to construct wooden stairs 4' wide from outside the buffer to the new 10'x12' platform/deck. Plan is to build stairs using pressure treated stair stringers and treads, and installing 4' wide landings using 4x4 posts. Stairs will extend from platform/deck to outside the buffer area. I'm trying to minimize the number of trees taken down by routing the stairs between trees. Main area where I will remove trees is in the area of the 10' x 12' platform/deck.
