I inspected the Lenoir Mirror (NCS000061) facility on May 30, 2019. 1 met with Tim Brown on site. The following items
were noted.
1) While PH has not been monitored recently, they will either be obtaining a PH meter for facility personnel to do
the test, or they will be altering the sampling method to allow for the lab they are currently using to do the test.
2) They have experienced high BOD levels with their last 3 samples and will now beginning all responsive measures
to being in Tier 2 response.
3) Among the possible BOD sources discussed is sawdust stockpiles, possibly contaminated runoff from adjacent
housing and possibly the employees working at the rear of the facility frequently urinating in the Storm drain,
according to Mr. Brown.
4) During the follow up inspections I will be looking to confirm that responsive and investigative monitoring has
been performed at the facility.
I recommend that coverage as proposed in the permit be continued. I conducted a compliance inspection while I was at
the facility and I will be writing and send out the report on Monday if possible. I will send you a copy.
