Subject: Project 04-1906, Jackson County - Neil & Jean White - 300 feet
Shoreline Stabilization
Mr. Barnett:
The submitted shoreline stabilization application was for 300 feet, not 650 feet
(as stated in your letter of January 3, 2004).
The pictures submitted for this shoreline stabilization were taken with the water at
approximately 3 feet below the full pool elevation (please see application for all
pictures). The rocks that are seen in the pictures are all below the full pool
elevation.
.Fr)
The shoreline at this property has trees that are located inline with the full pool
elevation.
This property is located in a narrow cove and the requested for stabilization
would significantly reduce further erosion from wave action created by motorboat
traffic.
This stabilization has received approval from Duke Power Company, North
Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer.
Please respond within 10 calendar days of receipt of this letter of clarification.
Sincerely,
(? I 02t?-

Dear Mr. and Mrs. White:
DWQ Project # 04-1906
Jackson
The Asheville Regional Office of the North Carolina Division of Water Quality is in receipt
of your request to stabilize 650 linear feet of shoreline on G;enville Lake. Upon
preliminary review, this office needs clarification as to "need" in regards to this project.
• The supplied photographs only indicate small areas of shoreline need stabilization.
Additionally, below the full pool elevation, there is no visual evidence of the need
for stabilization. You must provide a thoughtful discussion as to need in regards to
this project in order for the Division to consider such a request. Should you be
able to scale back you request for a smaller amount of stabilization that should be
reflected in you response to this request.
In order for this office to process the submitted. application, the above listed issue must be
addressed and submitted in writing to my attention at the Asheville Regional Office within
10 calendar of receipt of this request. Failure to supply the requested information in a
timely manner will result in the return of this application as incomplete.
