Response to Comments - SAW-2009-01113
Charlotte Avenue Stormwater Improvements
Sue,
Below is the response to the Incomplete Application Notification that we provided to the U,S. Army Corps
of Engineers. If you have any questions or need additional information, please feel free to call or e-mail
me. Starting today, I will be out in the field for the rest of the summer (at least the middle of August), but I
will be checking voice mail in the mornings and e-mail in the evenings. I can also be reached via cell at
906.1775 at any time.
Response to Comments:
1) A very small amount of work will be performed within the 1 OO-year flood zone. Coordination with
the City of High Point Certified Floodplain Manager, Mr. Terry Kuneff, PE, has been ongoing
regarding the proposed construction activity within the flood plain. A Conditional Letter of Map
Revision (CLOMR) is not required relative to the proposed project. All approvals required by the
City of High Point will be obtained prior to commencement of proposed work.
2) Temporary impacts associated with a cofferdam that will be utilized during construction of this
project at S1 (see attached table and Figure 3). Plan view and cross sectional drawings of the
cofferdam are attached, At S2 and S3, the water will be by-passed pumped from an access port
within the existing culvert upstream of the proposed work and discharged into the stream channel
Page:

downstream of the proposed work (Figure 4), At 54, 55, and 56, water within the stream channel
will be by-pass pumped from an access port within the existing culvert upstream of the proposed
work to an access port within existing culvert downstream of the proposed work (Figures 5 and 6).
3) Proposed impacts at 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, and 56 have been depicted on the attached 11 X 17
design drawings.
4) It has been noted that the project will be evaluated for a NWP 39 verification.
Thank you and have a great day,
Linda
