SUBJECT: Start of Study Notification for Upcoming Bridge Replacement Projects
The Project Development and Environmental Analysis Branch is starting the project
development, environmental and engineering studies for the replacement of the follow Bridge
projects. These projects are included in the North Carolina Transportation Improvement
Program and are scheduled for construction in fiscal year 2014.
TIP Project No. B-4639 - Replacement of Bridge No. 17 on US 15-401 over Gum Swamp in
Scotland County
TIP Project No. B-4780 - Replacement of Bridge No. 22 on SR 1111 over Richmond Creek in
Montgomery County
TIP Project No. B-4799 - Replacement of Bridge No. 37 on SR 1311 over Jackson Creek in
Onslow County
TIP Project No. B-4816 - Replacement of Bridge No. 65 on US 15-501 over Juniper Creek in
Scotland County
TIP Project No. B-5128 - Replacement of Bridge No. 58 on SR 1404 over a Creek in Randolph
County
We would appreciate any information you might have that would be helpful in evaluating
potential environmental impacts of these projects including recommendation of alternatives to be
studied. Your comments will be used in the preparation of a federally funded Categorical
Exclusion, prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act. It is desirable
that your agency respond by November 30, 2009 so that your comments can be used in the
selection of alternatives to be studied for these projects.
