They will be removing previously placed existing riprap/rock from the buffer and planting trees in that area, but all other work will be done outside of the buffer. Dunn Creek). I've also attached the associated approved impact maps. The project obtained a SMP approval from the Town of Wake Forest which included the level spreader shown on the DWR approved plans. The road extension and bridge has been constructed and they are in the process of finalizing the project to include the removal of the temporary E&S measures and installation of the final post - construction SMP devices. In doing so they realized that the level spreader would require additional tree removal and disturbance within the riparian area than desired. This would include having to take down a very large maple tree (photo attached). They looked into alternative designs that would avoid the need to take down additional trees and ultimately settled on a scour hole that the Town as tentatively approved. See attached letter from the Town of Wake Forest to include the revised plan with the scour hole. Not only would this revised design avoid additional clearing in the riparian area and removal of the large maple tree, it also proposes to remove a pre-existing rock dissipater within a 0.0184 acre area and replant with six (6) native hardwood trees. Please review and let us know if this modification is acceptable to the DWR. Thanks!
