Subject:U2579B sewer spill
We had a sewer spill at the crossing over 158 on U2579B at permit site 3. There was a coupling failure. It was found
within a minute. Approximately 450 gallons of sewage spilled into the high flow barrel of the culvert which was dry at
the time. We coordinated clean up with the City of Winston Salem who owns the line. Dikes were placed on either end
of the overflow barrel, the sewage was removed by pumping and lime was applied per the City’s direction. A minor
amount of sewage might have gotten into the stream. Let me know if you have any questions.
