RE: Refinement of CAMA Major Permit No. 85-18, Bridge No. 249 over Duck Creek, Beaufort County..
Dear Mr. Johnson:
This letter is in response to your email request dated May 16, 2019, including the attached drawing (1) dated as
received on May 16, 2019. The request is for approval to place an additional 70 linear feet of Class II riprap on
the roadway fill slope located between Sta. 16+15-L- RT and Sta. 16+85-L-RT during the existing in -water
work moratorium. As detailed in your request letter, the riprap would provide slope protection from erosion
due to rising and falling wind driven tides. The proposed additional work would not result in any additional
impacts to any wetlands or open waters.
Please be advised that through this Letter of Refinement, the Division of Coastal Management (DCM) conveys
its determination that the revision as described in your request dated May 16, 2019 is consistent with existing
State rules and regulations and is in keeping with the original purpose and intent of CAMA Major Permit No.
85-18.
This Letter of Refinement shall be attached to the original of CAMA Major Permit No. 85-18, which was issued
on August 6, 2018, and copies of both documents shall be readily available on -site when a DCM representative
inspects the project for compliance. All conditions and stipulations of the active permit remain in farce unless
altered herein. This approval does not eliminate the need to obtain any additional permits, approvals or
authorizations that may be required.
