Typical Cross Section Description: One (1) 12' travel lane each direction. 2' unpaved shoulders with grass roadway ditches, both sides. C&G or 7' (4' paved, 3' unpaved) shoulders with guardrail where applicable. A 12' wide gravel access road for a sanitary sewer lift station at the beginning of the project. A 25' gravel contruction access road for the now -developed site at the end of the project and a small portion of W.E. Baab Industrial Road (24' paved roadway). Annual Avg Daily Traffic (veh/hr/day): Design/Future: >400 Year: 2018 Existing: N/A Year: N/A General Project Narrative: (Description of Minimization of Water Quality Impacts) R-5870 proposes to construct a new access road into the Alexander Industrial Park from W.E. Baab Industrial Road (current terminus at the existing cul-de-sac) to White Plains Road (SR 1422). Approximately 1,100 linear feet of grass swales have been incorporated in roadside ditches, where possible, to reduce the velocity and promote the infiltration of runoff. Riprap at pipe outlets, ditches, and streambanks has been incorporated to minimize erosion on slopes where vegetation will not be adequate. NCDOT standards for ground cover, vegetation, and slope stabilization will be adhered to during the life of this project, and will be specified in the NCDOT Erosion and Sediment Control Plan for the project. This made the majority of the averaged slopes 3:1.
