NCDOT recently completed replacing the bridge structure (Beaufort Bridge 249 over Duck Creek) and has removed the temporary bridge structure from the site. The temporary fill for the temporary detour is still in place along with the temporary bridge end bents. NCDOT will remove these items after the moratorium ends. However the fill slopes for the permanent bridge are currently experiencing erosion and the NCDOT has requested a permit modification to add 65 linear feet of rip rap to the fill slope/shoreline as soon as possible during the in -water moratorium to stop the erosion and prevent any potential issues during the upcoming hurricane season as this is the only road to the houses at the end of the road.
