NOTICE OF A CITIZENS INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOP FOR THE
PROPOSED INTERCHANGE AT THE INTERSECTION
OF NC 87 BYPASS AND US 701
TIP Project No. R-4903 Bladen County
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold a
Citizens Informational Workshop for the above proposed highway project on
Thursday, August 27, 2009, beginning at 4:00 pm and ending at 7:00 pm, in the
Town Council Chambers, Elizabethtown Municipal Building, located at 805 West
Broad Street, Elizabethtown, 28337.
NCDOT representatives will be available in an informal setting to answer
questions and receive comments about the proposed project. The opportunity to
submit written comments and/or questions will also be provided and are
encouraged. Interested citizens may attend at any time during the above
mentioned hours. Please note: there will be no formal presentation.
NCDOT proposes to construct an interchange at the existing intersection
of the NC 87 Bypass and US 701. Two alternatives are currently being studied
and will be presented at the workshop. The purpose of the project is to improve
the safety and capacity of the NC 87/US 701 intersection. The project will
require the acquisition of additional right of way and the potential relocation of
homes and businesses.
This Citizens Informational Workshop is being held to provide the public
an opportunity to participate in the planning process. Comments and information
received will be taken into consideration as work on the project continues.
