Dear Mr. Sanders:
On August 1, 1995, I visited your swine operation in northern Moore
County near Seagrove. According to Mrs. Sanders, who was present at the time,
this swine operation is no longer in use. I was unable to inspect the entire
operation at that time due to lack of access. However, Mrs. Sanders indicated
that no animals had been confined in the hog houses for some time and the
facility's lagoon was no longer in service. If it is your intention to keep
this facility closed permanently, we ask that you provide a closure plan,
indicating the measures which will be taken to eliminate any possibility of
wastewater discharge. Assistance in this matter can be obtained from the Moore
County Natural Resources Conservation Service (SCS) or the local Agricultural
Extension Agent.
Should you wish to maintain the option of operating this swine farm, we
ask that you contact this office prior to re -stocking animals. If the
operation goes unused for two years, it will be necessary to obtain a
certified waste management plan prior to re -stocking. Such a plan will be
required by the and of December 1997 under any circumstance, (If the operation
is to be maintained as operational.)
