Inspection Date: 05/16/2019 Inspection Type : Compliance Evaluation Reason for Visit: Routine
Inspection Summary:
On 5/16/19 a Compliance Inspection was performed on the wastewater treatment, reuse, and high -rate infiltration sysytem at
the NC Aquarium's Jennette's Pier by R. Sipe w/ WQROS-WaRO. Junior Edwards, the ORC for the facility was also
present and provided valuable assistance. The inspection included a review of reporting, monitoring, and O & M records for
the facility and a walk through of all the components of the treatment and disposal systems.
The reporting and record keeping were found to be complete and accurate.
During March and July 2018 there were some slight effluent limit exccedances for TN but the ORC stated that he has
worked with adjusting the chemical feed rate to the Amphidrome units and currently effluent quality is meeting permit limits.
The infiltration basin appears to be operating adequately; however, the edges of the basin continue to have aquatic
vegetation and duck weed was observed on over the majority of the basin at the time of the inspection. One aerator was
operating on the basin in an attempt to control the duck weed. The ORC stated that the other aerator was broken and it was
not determined when it would be repaired.
The facility is considered to be in compliance with the permit # WQ0033589 at the time of the inspection.
