Re: Section 404/401 Permit Modification Request

Mr. Lastinger and Mr. Ridings:

VHB (formerly Ecological Engineering), on behalf of Stewart Engineering, Inc. (Stewart) and the Town of Cary,
respectfully requests 404/401 approval for impacts associated with this proposed greenway trail project.
The majority of proposed impacts to aquatic resources and Jordan Lake riparian buffers were previously approved
under SAW 2014-01824 and NCDWR Project No. 20160839. During construction, the contractor noted an area in
which the limits of disturbance as originally proposed did not allow for adequate access in order to construct the
greenway. The limits of disturbance were slightly expanded in this area and additional timber matting across a
wetland and buffered stream are now proposed. This submittal contains all previously authorized project impacts
as well as additional necessary impacts at permit drawing Site 2 to Wetland E and Stream I and its Zone 1 and 2
riparian buffers. Changes from the original submittal are denoted in red font in the wetland and buffer summary
sheets accompanying the permit drawings. A table of the changes to impacts is also below:
