Dear Ms. Grzyb:
Duke Energy Progress,LLC. is requesting a modification of the Mayo Steam Station's NPDES permit to
remove coverage for outfalls OO6c,OO6d, and OO6e.These are former storm water outfalls that contain
primarily storm water and switchyard runoff with potential cooling tower drift.The Mayo Station
undertook project work in this drainage area and permanently grouted and closed these outfalls in late
January of 2019.
Duke Energy also requests the removal of NPDES permit coverage for former storm water outfalls 004
and 005. Project work required by CAMA and the federal CCR rule, rerouted the flows for outfalls 004
and 005 to discharge upstream of NPDES outfall 002(see attached map).This work was complete on
May 2,2019.
