Inspection Summary:
Met with Robin, office manager, and Rusty, Yard Manager during inspection. Chris Bubin, general manager, was not
present, but later called to clarify issues.
The stormwater pollution prevention plan was not available during inspection. Chris Bubin called to assure the inspector that
the SWPPP does exist, but needs updating.
Sampling has not occured recently. Willis granted ROS to NE outfall. Outfall needs to be labeled in the field. Other identified
outfalls should be labeled and qualitative sampling should occur.
The boatyard needs housekeeping. Liquids should be stored inside shelter. They do have a storage shipping box that has
liner to prevent spills for storage. Used containers must be disposed of properly. Bottom paint procedures must be adhered
to by employees and DlYers.
The powerwashing that occurs onsite should be reevaluated. The location is adjacent to the water. The drain contains alot of
sediment and debris. Rusty said that there is a sock to filter the contaminants. Powerwashing creates wastewater
and must be dealt with appropriately. Provide and clearly mark a designated wash down and pressure washing area with
an
impermeable surface that does not drain to surface waters, or direct wastewater over land and
cause infiltration into groundwater. Wash water is considered to be a process wastewater and
must be collected pretreated and directed to a sanitary sewer, permitted through non -discharge
means such as recycling, or hauled off for proper disposal be a licensed contractor. Discharge to a septic
system is prohibited.
That being said, find the best solution, but a recycle system is suggested.
