Ito,
Attached is three copies of the plans and a copy of the Asheville quadrangle map
depicting the location for the above referenced stream bank stabilization project. During
recent flooding events of Hurricanes Ivan and Frances, the creek bank in this area was
eroded. This erosion has endangered our existing MSD sewer main and manholes and as
such we are proposing to restore the area. This restoration work will generally consist of
reshaping and stabilizing the existing stream bank from the water line to the top of the
embankment. This project proposes to disturb less than 500 linear feet of the stream bank,
as required under Nation Wide Permit 13. We are proceeding based on guidance given by
Rebekah Newton with the local Army Corps of Engineers office and have submitted the
appropriate Nationwide Permit application to that office.
Please allow this letter to serve as our notification of intention to proceed with this
project. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at (828) 225-8262.
Thank You.
Sincerely,
