vegetation clearing, buildings, retaining walls, docks, impervious surfaces, rip rap, excavation
or dredging below Full Pond/ Normal Water Level elevations, and construction access
corridors. You may use the diagram provided at the end of this application form.
FORM: SSGP 02-2017 Page 1 of 3
3. Attach a photograph of the shoreline/ buffer proposed to be stabilized. (Include a scale of
some sort- a yard stick, shovel handle, etc.)

Latitude'(in decimal degrees)35.7892 Longitude (decimal degrees) -81.3908
5.`'t"Describe the existing land use or condition of the site at the time of this application
(residential, undeveloped, etc.): Residential
6. Describe proposed work (include discussion as to how hardening of shoreline has been
avoided, or why it is necessary): The residential lot was purchased in 2013 and a home was
built on the property in 2017. The shoreline has never been modified from it's natural setting.
In this section of the lake there is a lot of boat traffic and the waves have eroded the shoreline
to where trees are falling into the lake. The proposal is to clean up the bank of fallen trees and
debris in an area that will be rocked with rip rap. The area to be rocked is roughly 80 feet
along the shoreline to the west of Course L22 on the Survey Map (a small peninsula area) and
roughly 100 feet along the shoreline to the southeast of Course L22 on the Survey Map. It will
probably take from 60 to 90 tons of rip rap.
7. Will work be conducted from land? X From water? ❑
8. Total amount of impacts below the normal pool lake level / Normal Water Level
Permanent impacts (including all excavation, backfill, rip rap, retaining walls, etc.) in square feet:
The normal pool lake level (the target level) is 97 feet. Rip rap will be covering roughly 180
square feet below the normal pool lake level (1 foot below the normal pool lake level for roughly
80 feet along the shoreline to the west of the small peninsula area and roughly 100 feet along
the shoreline to the southeast of the small peninsula area).
Temporary impacts in square feet:
There should be no temporary impacts.
9. Total amount of impacts above the normal pool lake level/ Normal Water Level and 50 feet
land -ward
FORM: SSGP 02-2017 Page 2 of 5
Permanent impacts (including back fill, excavation, rip rap, retaining walls, etc.) in square feet:
Rip rap will be covering roughly 540 square feet above the normal pool lake level (3 feet above
the n_or_mal pool lake level for roughly 80 feet alone the shoreline to the west of the small
peninsula area and roughly 100 feet alone the shoreline to the southeast of the small peninsula
area .
Temporary impacts (temporary clearing, construction corridor) in square feet:
There should be no temporary impact above the normal pool level because of an existing
Pathway for use.
10. Please describe the vegetation above the normal pool lake level/ Normal Water Level and 50
feet landward to be impacted (number of trees, for instance): There will be minimal scrub
brush disturbance.
11. Signature
Owner/Agent' Signature" [15A NCAC 02H .0502(f)l Date
'Agent's signature is valid only if an authorization letter from the owner is provided.
12. Please approximately sketch the following information on this plan and provide dimensions for
each item:
a. All proposed vegetation clearing
b. Location of rip rap or fill to be placed above the Full Pond/ Normal Water Level elevation
c. Location of rip rap or fill to be placed below the Full Pond/ Normal Water Level elevation
d. Location of any proposed structures such as buildings, retaining walls, docks, etc.

Lake Hickory
02 -MAR -19 March 2, 2019, at 8:00 AM, Itie Catawba River Basin reservoir levels are
above their normal target elevations and additional rainfall can cause higher lake levels.
Duke Energy Hydro Operations is aggressively moving water through the river system.
Lake Hickory has a partial gate open for lake level management. We will provide
additional updates if conditions change. As always, we encourage those living along
lakes, streams and other low-lying and flood -prone areas to pay special attention to
changing weather conditions and take any necessary precautions. Updated lake levels
are available any time at www.duke-energy.com/lakes, or by calling 800-829-5253.
Catawba County residents living around Lookout Shoals should contact Catawba County
Emergency Management to update their contact information using the Community Alert
System.
