Allen Stormwater Outfall Notification Letter Fifteenth Outfall Group SW013.pdf
Mike,
The attached letter is on its way. Do I need to wait until the modified permit is issued before I apply
for representative outfall status for these fifteen outfalls?

Yes, provide a letter confirming the discovery & approximate location - I'll modify the permit.

Mike,
It appears that indeed there is a fifteenth pipe in Group SWO13 at Allen Steam Station. I
suppose this discovery warrants another letter?

Greetings. The Machete Brothers successfully hacked their way to the 15th
outfall. Ross, the outfall was located where we marked the concrete flume.
Photos attached. Appears to be 10-12 inch CMP.

Mike,
The area around the fifteenth outfall has been sprayed, and we are waiting for the
vegetation to diet to gain access to the area. I was told by the Site Environmental
Coordinator that the herbicide takes about a week to work. He was going to go by the
area today and check on the progress. I will let you know the status as soon as possible
because I would like a finalized list to provide for representative outfall status.

Ross,
Do you have any additional information with respect to the fifteenth stormwater pipe?
I'd rather wait a couple of weeks than have to modify the permit multiple times.
Both modifications are minor modifications so we can change the permit now and
again in a few weeks without public comment. That being said, I prefer to limit the
number of times that I modify the permit if for no other reason than avoiding having 3
or 4 versions of the same permit. Modifying the permit might also mean meeting again
with the Regional Office to determine representative sampling, monitoring points,
modifying sampling protocols, etc.

Mr. Bradley Bennett,
Attached is a letter detailing our findings regarding the discovery of a stormwater
outfall and regarding our belief that an additional outfall may also exist at the Allen
Steam Station. Due to the size of the map that accompanies this letter, the map will be
mailed along with the letter instead of being emailed. If you have any questions or
comments, please feel free to contact me.
