Aid No: Funding: X State Federal Federal Permits : X Yes No Permit Type(s): USACE Project Description: Replace Bridge No. 105 on SR 1418 (Bridgersville Road) over Cattail Swamp (off -site detour planned). SUMMARY OF HISTORIC ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPES REVIEW Description of review activities, results, and conclusions: HPOWeb reviewed on 11 October 2017 and yielded one DE and no NR, SL, LD, or SS properties in the Area of Potential Effects (APE). APE extends 500 feet from either end of the existing bridge (NW -SE) and 150 feet to either side of the SR 1418 (Bridgersville Road) centerline (SW -NE) to encompass proposed construction activities. Wilson County mapping, aerial photography, and tax information indicate a mostly wooded APE with one residential resource dating to the 2000s (viewed 11 October 2017). Bridge No. 105, built in 1920, is determined eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. The reinforced concrete thru girder bridge is technologically significant as the oldest surviving example of its type in the state. The comprehensive county architectural survey (1981) and related publication (Kate ohno, Wilson coun" Architectural Heritage, [Raleigh]: North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources, 1981), as well as later studies record no resources in the APE. Field notes and evaluation for Bridge No. 105 are included in the NCDOT Historic Bridge Inventory (2003); a profile of the bridge may be found at Historic Bridges of North Carolina (www.ncdot.gov/projects/ncbridges/historic/#historicbridges). Google Maps "StreetView" and other graphics confirm the absence of architectural and landscape resources in the APE apart from the NR-eligible bridge (viewed 11 October 20170). No National Register -listed properties are located in the APE. An effects consultation with the North Carolina State Historic Preservation Office is required under Section 106 review.
