Dear Mr. Hennessy:
In June 2018, Aqua North Carolina, Inc. (ANC) completed upgrades to the Beau Rivage WWTP. ANC is
formally requesting a minor permit modification to update the list of facility components contained in the
permit. The changes requested are listed in bold below. In addition, Ultraviolet Disinfection (UV) was
installed and is operational. Since recent changes to the disinfection rule no longer require that UV facilities
monitor for Total Residual Chlorine (TRC) unless a chlorine derivative is being utilized for disinfection,
we formally request that this requirement to monitor for TRC be made optional.
List of facility components that require updating are in bold:
- Mechanical Fine Screen with back-up manual bar screen
- 70,000-gallon aerated flow equalization tank (2 —35,000-gallon chambers) with 2 Flow EQ
Blowers
- Flow control box
- Two 100,000-gallon Integrated Fixed Film Activated Sludge(IFAS)treatment trains with one
25,000-gallon aerated sludge holding/digestion/thickening tanks per treatment train
- 3—Activated Sludge process Blowers
- 3-Sludge tank mixing and aeration blowers
- 2-Clarifiers
- 2-Clarifier air lift blowers
- 2—Tertiary fixed cloth media filters with automatic backwash controls
- Ultra-violet Disinfection
- 180 kw standby generator
- Sodium hydroxide chemical feed system with duplex chemical feed pumps
- Liquid chlorination feed system
- De-chlorination system
- Flow Meter
- Post-aeration
- Cellular telemetry
