ProiectDescription: Replae Bridge No. 92 on SR 1339 (Sharpe Store Road) over Town
Creek no off-site detour specified in review request).
SUMMARY OF HISTORIC ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPES REVIEW
DESCRIPTONOFREVIEWACTIVITIES, RESULTS, AND CONCLUSIONS: HPOWeb reviewed on 12
September 2017 and yielded no NR, SL, LD, DE, or SS properties in the Area of Potential Effects (APE).
Wilson County current GIS mapping, aerial photography, and tax inforrnation indicated an APE of mostly
cultivated fields and woodland with several late-twentieth-century residential resources (viewed 12
September 2017). A house dating to the early 1960s to the NE of the existing bridge is an unexceptional
example of its type. Constructed in 1952, Bridge No. 92 is not eligible for the National Register according
to the NCDOT Historic Bridge Survey as it is neither aesthetically nor technologically significant. Google
Maps'Street View" also illustrates the absence of critical architectural and landscape resources in the APE
(viewed 12 September 2017).
No architectural survey is required for the project as currently defined.
WKY THE AVAILABLE INFORMATION PROVIDES A RELIABLE BASIS FOR REASONABLY PREDICTING THAT
THEREARE NO UNIDENTIFIED SIGNIFICANT HISTORICARCHITECTURAL OR LANDSCAPE RESDURCES IN
THEPROJECTAREA: APE extends 500 feet from either end of the existing bridge (N-S) and 100 feet to
either side of the SR 1339 (Sharpe Store Road) centerline (E-W) to encompass proposed construction
activities. The comprehensive county architectural survey (1981) and related publication (Kate ohno, wiison
County'sArchitecturalHeritage, [Raleigh]: North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources, 1981), as well as later studies
record no resources in the APE. County GIS and other graphics confirrn the absence of architectural and
landscape resources in the APE. No National Register-listed properties are located in the APE.
Should the design of the project change, please notify NCDOT Historic Architecture
as additional review mav be necessarv.
