Proiect Description: ReplaCe BI'Idge N0. 91 on SR 1339 (Sharpe Store Road) over UT to
Town Creek no off-site detour s ecified in review re uest .
SUMMARY OF HISTORIC ARCHITECTURE AND LANllSCAYS 1H;V1W
DESCRIPTIONOFREVIEWACTIVITIES. RESULTS, AND CONCLUSIONS: HPOWeb reviewed on 13
September 2017 and yielded no NR, SL, LD, DE, or SS properties in the Area of Potential Effects (APE).
Wilson County current GIS mapping, aerial photography, and tax information indicated an APE of
cultivated fields and woodland with resources dating from the second half of the twentieth century
(viewed 13 September 2017). An early-1960s house located NE of the existing bridge is an unexceptional
example of its type. The APE intersects a large parcel to the SW on which stand several early-twentieth-
century residential and agricultural resources, all approximately 2600 feet and more south of the existing
bridge and well beyond likely project impact. Constructed in 1952, Bridge No. 91 is not eligible for the
National Register according to the NCDOT Historic Bridge Survey as it is neither aesthetically nor
technologically significant. Google Maps Street View" also illustrates the absence of critical architectural
and landscape resources in the APE (viewed 13 September 2017).
No architectural survey is required for the project as currently defined.
WHY THE A VAILABLE INFORMATION PROVIDES A RELIABLE BASIS FOR REASONABL Y PREDICTING THAT
THERE ARE NO UNIDENTIFIED SIGNIFICANT HISTORIC ARCHITECTURAL OR LANDSCAPE RESOURCES IN
THEPROJECTAREA: APE extends 500 feet from either end of the existing bridge (N-S) and 100 feet to
either side of the SR 1339 (Sharpe Store Road) centerline (E-WJ to encompass proposed construction
activities. The comprehensive county architectural survey (1981) and related publication (Kate onno, wiison
County'sArchitecturalHeritage, [Raleigh]: North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources, 1981), as Well dS latel' StudleS
record no resources in the APE. County GIS and other graphics confirrn the absence of architectural and
landscape resources in the APE. No National Register-listed properties are located in the APE.
Should the design of the project change, please notify NCDOT Historic Architecture
as additional review may be necessary.
