To replace Union County bridge No. 358 on SR 2149 (Buford Short Cut Road)

The proposed replacement structure is a single span bridge (1 @65') 24" cored slab deck with 4' deep caps. The structure has been designed to minimize environmental impacts by
using 2:1 slopes. Standard construction equipment will be used including hucks, bulldozers, and cranes.
Stream bank stabilization will be limited to those areas where ewsting bridge headwalls will be removed.

The project has been designed to minimize stream impacts by utiliang 2:1 slopes. Channel improvements were made for the proposed bridge design,
the excavation associated with Ihe channel improvements was kept to a minimum to reduce stream impacts. Three ditches are proposed on the site,
all of the ditches are to be rip-rapped lined at the outlets to prevent channel/bank erosion.

NCDOT Best Management Practices for bridge replacement projects will be followed as well as Sedimentation and Erosion Control measures.

Please note NLEB is not listed for Union County per the USFWS county list last updated on June 27, 2018. Also, the field visit for 17BP.10.R.118 was conducted on November 1, 2018,
just one day outside of the optimal survey window of October 31 for Schweinitzs sunflower (Helianthus schweinitii) and Michau�fs sumac (Rhus michauxii). Per the NCNHP report there
were no known occurrences of Schweinitzs sunflower or Michauxs sumac within a one mile radius of Ihe project site. Surveys for Carolina heelsplitter (Lasmigona decorata) have been
requested; however, may be deemed unnecessary for the project.
