SUBJECT: NOTICE OF DEFICIENCY
T & P Swine Facility
Registration No. 82-205
Sampson County
Dear Mr. Matthis:
On October 20, 1998, staff from the Fayetteville Regional Office of the
Division of Water Quality inspected the T & P swine facility. It was
observed that the waste application records were inadequate. In addition,
the lagoons need a cover grass established on the bare areas.
In regard to the deficiencies noted during the inspection, the following
actions are requested:
1. Consult with a technical specialist for assistance in regard to design and
setup of the irrigation system to provide additional information for a
determination of the adequacy of the system. This is necessary due to
the records indicating that only approximately 50 percent of the waste
application fields have received the majority of waste resulting in an
over -application of plant available nitrogen (PAN) on the winter annual
overseed.
2. The lagoon dikes need a suitable cover grass established on the bare
areas to prevent further erosion.
