Dear Mr. Jessup:
On June 19, 1998, staff from the Fayetteville Regional Office of the
Division of Water Quality performed an annual inspection of the Robert
Jessup Farms located in Bladen County. The inspection revealed that the
waste application fields had areas with weed problems that need addressing.
Also noted in the inspection report, the lagoon banks need mowing and
weekly lagoon level readings must be kept.
In regard to the deficiencies noted during the inspection, the following
actions are requested.
1. Address the weed problems in the waste application field to avoid
competition with the bermuda crop.
2. Mow back slopes of lagoon to allow inspection for rodent damage
and seepage.
3. As required by the permit for these farms, a weekly lagoon level
record shall be kept for each lagoon
