In accordance with the requirements of Part III of NPDES wastewater permit NC0004961, Duke Energy
is hereby providing notice of closure for OutO 002, Ash Pond Discharge, at Riverbend Station in Gaston County,
NC. Riverbend is a retired facility and has completed excavation, removed all CCR material
and verified clean closure in the primary and secondary ash basin, ash stack and cinder pit.
For the drainage of this outfall there will be no generating, treating or discharging of wastewater.
Duke is currently grading these excavated areas under open erosion control permit GASTO-2019-001 to
fill in low spots and allow dissipated flow from stormwater to gradually flow into Mountain Island Lake.
