NORTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT AND NATURAL RESOURCES DIVISION OF WATER QUALITY FAYETTEVILLE REGIONAL OF'F'ICE DIVISION OF WATER QUALITY August 22, 2000 CERTIFIED MAII. RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED Dr. Garth Boyd Murphy Farms P.O. Box 759 Rose Hill_ NC 28428 SUBJECT: NOTICE OF DEFICIENCY French's Creek Finisher Swine Facility Registration No. 09-5 Bladen Countv Dear Dr. Boyd: On August 15, 2000, stabfrorn the Fayetteville Regional Office of the Division of Water Quality inspected the Frenches Creek Finisher swine facility. It was observed that the one of the waste application fields had competition with other grasses. In addition, the inside slope of the old lagoons need cutting to allow inspection. In regard to the deficiencies noted during the inspection, the following actions are requested: 1. Contact a crop specialist for assistance in the management of the coastal bermuda waste application fields to improve the stand and control the other grasses. Nothing in this letter should be taken as absolving this facility of the responsibility and liability of any violations that have or may result from these deficiencies. 225 GREET!
