Proiect Description:
This project will widen Gum Branch Road (SR 1308) in Onslow County from just north of SR
1313 (Mills Field Road) to SR 1388 (Timothy Road). This project also includes improvements to
Gum Branch Road near its intersection with Mendover Drive (SR 2031) as well as a portion of
Gum Branch Road in the vicinity of Half Moon Church Road (SR 1323) and Ramsey Road (SR
1324). The project will widen SR 1308 from a 2-lane road to a 3-lane road, including a two foot
paved shoulder. The R/W for this project is variable. Much of the project previously reviewed
under PA#14-03-0017.
SUMMARY OF HISTORIC ARCHICTECTURE AND LANDSCAPES REVIEW

potential effects.

Descrintion of review activities, results, and conclusions:
Review of HPO quad maps, relevant background reports, historic designations roster, and indexes was
undertaken on March 20, 2017. Based on this review there are no NR, DE, LL, or SL in the project area.
There one property identified as a Survey Site in the study area of this project. The Jefferson D. Greer
House (ON0167) is situated north of the intersection of Gum Tree Branch Rd and Half Moon Church Rd.
The house has vinyl siding and replacement windows and doors. It does not meet the minimum criteria
for eligibility for individual National Register listing nor does it ft within an historic district. There are no
other properties older than fifly years in the additional study areas which need consideration. No historic
properties will be affected by this portion of the project. There are National Register eligible properties
